Forgot to bring in my Altras so my tender toes had more room. Just put an extra layer of tape around them and they held up.

Legs felt really good. Shin tightness is almsot gone.

2 mile wu. 8 x 2 min on, 2 min off at 6:10 pace. Legs felt really good for the first 6, then when I turned into the wind- the resistance was a little much for my legs and they could only hold 6:30 pace. But I finished the last few miles stong and ended with 7:20 AP. Still a little fatigue from the race, but that's expected.

Easy miles in the foothills. Legs felt heavy first 2 miles and then everything felt good. About 2000 ft climbing. Ran last half mile at 7:05 pace just too see how it felt and it was comfortable. Signed up for Missoula marathon- haven't run that distance in ten years. Hoping to place top three so I think I need a 3:05 to do that. Should be doable, just gave to add some longer tempo runs to work on leg speed. Might have to think about racing schedule in June. I have it planned out to do a 35k trail 6/6, half 6/20, 10k 6/27, 5k 7/4. And the race is 7/12...

9 in a wonderful windy spring day! HA! I was supposed to run 2 miles with the Turkey on her bike, but she wanted to race the neighborhood kid so 9 it was.

2 mile wu. 5 x 6 min at 6:20 pace, 3 min rest. Into the wind splits were 6:30, with the wind splits were 6:20. Felt comfortable and relaxed. Decided to run last mile at 7:05 pace (MP for Missoula) and it felt really good. Going to do that for all runs till the race.

16. 4 easy, 3 MP (7:05), 3 moderate (7:20), 3 MP (7:05) 3 easyish (7:25) Felt relaxed- other than I had Luca and the birds are out. She managed to grab a stupid rockchuck and bring it back to me. How she caught it I have no idea... or killed it- she is not much of a killer...just a chaser...

 

Wore my new Altras. I rally love altras. so comfortable and roomy and I don't have to break them in...

Wonderful winter day-- cold, snow, wind, the works! Bundled up and fought it anyway- only makes me stronger, right?!?!

25k. Course was a couple miles longer than last year. The first 3 miles are an out and back and some runner behind us went off course and cut out a good chunk. Took the first loop easy and felt good, after the two guys in front of me pushed it to stay ahead, I made them pay for it on the second loop. Ran really strong on the second loop and felt good. Had two gels and about 35 oz water. Had enough zest for another loop (or part of one). Course has lots of climbing and technical areas. First female and third overall. Great day for a trail race. Now to recover for a couple days, sneak in a speed session and race 10k on Saturday. Hoping my stomach will corporate and I can have a better race than the last 10k. Supposed to do a mile race at the high school track meet later that day. Depends on soccer game and getting the babe down in time. But if I do run, it is going to be ugly!

20 mile bike ride at lunch. Figured since I ran yesterday and I should take at least one afternoon off before the two races this weekend.

Felt good to ride outside. Probaby run 3 with Luca tonight. Then back to normal tomorrow.

2 mile wu. 8 x 800 at 10k pace (6:30). I wanted to do 5k pace, but my legs were too sluggish and after 1 I knew I wouldn't be able to do it for more. The last 4 felt better than the first 4. Cool down 2 miles at MP (7:05).

Shoes are done. Need a new pair (and I just bought 2 brand new pairs!) Geesh!

Great day out. This saturday should be excellent out!

10k race in the morning. Chilly (37F) and windy. No one to push me and with a mile race later I took it easy. Race was a little long (6.4) and of course I forgot my watch so I have no idea what my splits were, but AP was 6:34.

Then raced home, grabbed girls and headed back to race for their obstacle run. Turk ran it twice and loved it. Q did about half and then was done. Still just a little too young and timid for it.

Then raced to soccer game. Coached the kids, sprinted back home, put Q down and came out of her room at 1:34. Mile race started at 1:40 so I jetted out the door. Drove over as fast ans safely as possible. Pulled up jumped out of car ran to the track and had about 30 seconds to rip off my warmups before the gun went off.

Gun fired and we were off- someone went down in the first 10 seconds so we had to restart.

Ran mile in 5:50- faster than I thought I would after the race this morning. First mile I have ever raced, I tucked behind a girl for the first 800 during the headwind.  It went by really fast and I felt like I was just warming up and it was done. Fun to run though.

May will be a hard traininig month to whip me into marathon pace shape. Can't wait!!

Breaking in new shoes so my feet were in fire for much of the workout. 3 mile wu with 3x 10 min at HM  (6:45) on the cc course. 2 minute recovery in between. I did some squats and lunges last night so my glutes were tight. Should not have done them. No more leg stuff till racing is over. Felt good other than my feet. Bring on May!
